AbAbstractSocio-philosophical implication of ≪The Universalized Eugenics≫ as <Our own Unconsciousness>――through analysis applying <The Responsive Sentence Completion Test> By Nagasawa Mamoru Recently, overcoming problems brought about by genetic defects becomes a main social task in the area of policy-practice integrating medical care, public health, and social welfare. In this situation, the practice of <Neo-Eugenics> focusing on diagnosis, cure, and prevention of genetic defects by free choice of individuals or couples is likely to become the social selection process of the so-called risk group. In this article, we call the unconscious belief <My own (or anyone else’s) existence deserves to live more than some other’s> ≪The Universalized Eugenics≫, and analyze this belief as <Our own Unconsciousness>. In this article, ≪The Universalized Eugenics≫, in its reformulated version, becomes the unconscious belief <Improvement of QOL(Quality of life)by genetic selection and/or genetic conversion is justifiable>. ≪The Universalized Eugenics≫ as <Our own Unconsciousness> is brought into language through a questionnaire applying <The Responsive Sentence Completion Test> and its socio-philosophical implication is analyzed. A main consequence of the analysis for the socio-philosophical implication of ≪The Universalized Eugenics≫ as <Our own Unconsciousness> is that there is a free choice, but the set of options in which we must make valid choices and which ranks our existence is always already predetermined.
